Now that the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is behind us, life will be calm and peaceful for a bit. Or at least that is what I keep telling myself, but the reality is that January seems as hectic as December. I find that I am continually telling myself “Once _____ happens, then things will calm down”, or “After we get through _______ then we will have a little peace.” But that isn’t the reality is it. Peace seems continually elusive, something that is being pursued and yet doesn’t seem attainable. Yet God promises peace. It is hard for us to put our finger on exactly what we want when we ask for peace. The main problem in our pursuit is that we are often chasing after something that isn’t peace at all and neglecting the peace that is offered to us in the midst of life’s craziness. Peace isn’t the absence of troubles, it isn’t quietness, it is wholeness and feeling complete.
